  • 8th South Shore Public Libraries Bookmobile @ New Germany Freshmart, 3:00pm to 6:00pm.


  • 12th Breakfast, Penny Auction and More Breakfast: Parkdale/Maplewood Community Centre, 3003 Barss Corner Road Maplewood, 7:00 to 10:30am. Menu: Home style smoked bacon, sausage, pancakes, eggs, served with locally produced maple syrup. Toast, tea, coffee, juice included. Price: Adults $8.00, 5 to 12 years $4.00, Under 5 free. There will be a Penny Auction held in conjunction with the Breakfast.

  • Penny Auction: Auction will be held in Museum, 7:00 to 11:00am.  Draw at 11:00am. Museum open to the public.

  • 26th Canoe with Greg. Meet at Veterans Memorial Boat Ramp at the north end of New Germany Lake, 8:00am.  Canoe or kayak for a guided paddle on the lake and north on the LaHave River. More info contact Greg at gdselig@ns.sympatico.ca  Rain date Sunday August 27th


  • 26th  East Dalhousie Community Fair: Dinner and Supper meals, horse and ox pulls, exhibits, flea market, merchandise bingo, games of chance, parade at 2pm.  Fireworks at 9pm organized independently by Stephen Dunkin

  • 3rd Variety Concert, New Germany Anglican Church Hall @ 1:30pm.  Featuring Kentucky Blue; Just for Fun, Valley Style; 2 CS, 2GS; Just Us Old Folks.  Admission $5, 50/50 tickets, Canteen, Door Prizes.  Proceeds for the hall.  Hosted by Mellie Robar & Peggy Tufts.


  • 9th 34th Annual Heritage Blueberry Festival at 3005 Barss Corner Road, Maplewood. Meal served from 12:30 to 5:30 pm.  For more information phone 902-644-2893.


  • 17th  East Dalhousie 200 Year Celebration. Starting at 11:00am @ the Fair Grounds and Hall. Outdoor church service, artifacts and old photo display, bring your own picnic lunch, tea and coffee provided, cake cutting, tree planting, presentation on Crossburn by Phillip Spencer. Come visit friends and reminisce on days gone by.


  • 17th NGAPS Pot Luck Community Picnic under Main Street Maples.  Bring a cold dish, salad or a dessert and join us under the maple trees for a community picnic. Canada 150 cake, free. Everyone welcome. This event is sponsored in part by the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.


  • 23rd Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers’ Association 50th Anniversary Event.
    Technical Session: Barss Corner Hall, 891 Barss Corner Rd 9:00 am – 11:30 pm Open to Christmas Tree Growers, Pre-registration is required $30 (incl. BBQ Meal)
    Field Tours, Displays& Demonstrations: Parkdale – Maplewood Community Hall, 3005 Barss Corner Rd, Barss Corner 12:00 pm- 4:00 pm.
