The New Germany Fire
Department brought the circus here in July 1979. The event was a big
success. In the photo you can see an elephant. In the evening after the
show the elephant was hot so the handlers took it down below the school
field and tied him to a large tree near, where Colleen MacDonald used to
live, in the shade. The elephant spend the night there and after the circus
packed up and left, the grass under that tree grew for months at a super
rate because of the "elephant fertilizer". Thanks to Glen Veinot for the
memories.
